Biological Control

Ladybird Feeder

Ladybirds and their larvae control many insect pests in the garden.

When ladybirds emerge from hibernation there may be a shortage of insects to feed on making it difficult for them to survive. The feeder provides a source of food until insect numbers increase.

The feeder should be suspended about one metre above the ground. The best site is near where ladybirds hibernate (commonly low conifers, ivy clad walls or fences).
